I don't remember being told when I was little that:
You would love your husband more than you could ever imagine, even more than on your wedding day.
That getting pregnant is harder than it seems.
That creating a family is the greatest gift I am being blessed with... whether with my husband and I or with children.
I know that as a couple we have had challenges, but we have been so blessed and come together so well in overcoming anything in our path.
One of the challenges we have been facing lately is:
We have been trying to get pregnant for over 10 months or so with no luck. We have had some opposition in people telling us that we shouldn't explore that area of our lives, which has been disheartening to say the least. After much prayer, planning, and faith, and work, this month is the first (and hopefully final) month of fertility treatments. It has been a roller coaster ride for me, atleast internally. I started with a 5 day pill that gave me a HUGE egg that I got to see with a sonogram. That was really neat and very exciting! Next, I got a shot and then another series of pills to take for a grand total of 20 days. Ick! All things considered, I'm doing pretty well, just tired more often and a little sick to my stomach. I think the medication has been messing with my body a bit. Some of the side effects make me a bit grouchy. James has been wonderful throughout this and gives me alot of encouragement and praise when I need it. I have kept this part of my life out of the spot light so I would not be criticized for going down this path.
James and I have had fun with my ovulation day. He hooked us up with an overnight at the Residence Inn for an overnight. We used the excuse (which needed to be done anyway) of bug bombing our house as a good reason to have an overnight away from home. We had a great time. We had some friends that have a 1 yr old baby where we were celebrating his birthday. We had a fun time catching up with all are friends that we don't get to see often enough and then had a good time with eachother that night. After James was done with work, that spilled into our evening, we cued up the movieTop Gun. Fun times!
Well, now its just a wait and see game. Am I or aren't I?
Today I got home from going over to let my parents dog outside, and about threw up. James was heating up some bbq'd chicken that we had last night and the smell turned my stomach. I wasn't able to eat much for lunch and had to lay down, I felt so sick. I'm feeling much better now, thank goodness!
On a fun side note:
I went downstairs last night to go to bed and James said he wanted to take me somewhere. I said, "do you not realize its 11pm?". He wanted to see the falling stars that was to take place last night. We loaded up the car with blankets and waters and headed out. We drove out to the middle of no-where between Lenexa & Lawrence to see the stars. We put all the seats down in our SUV and laid inside and watched the sky. We saw some pretty good ones before it was time to head home for the night. I love that he took me for a random date on the last minute.
Well, there you have it. We are hoping and praying and trying to have a baby. Crossing our fingers and would love your prayers and blessings.

When there is so much to write...what do you write???
Okay...
I guess the best thing to do is to do a quick update on what changes that have taken place. Note: not in order of occurance.
James & I took a big leap and bought a house in late October 2009. We invited my parents to live with us, which they have. It is a fantastic 5 bed, 3 full bath home with an open layout. We all love it. The two floors create a private get-away for each couple.
On the day we moved out, our female dog decided to give birth to an unannounced puppy. We named him Jack. He was adorable and we instantly fell in love. We kept him til he was 4 - 5 months old and then had a sad farewell, when my parents found him a new home.
James has been promoted to a Senior Data Analyst at Ernst & Young. He is an excellent employee with a great future. I'm really proud of him and all his effort to be good at what he does.
I quit my job!!! YEA!!!!!!!!! That took a great leap of faith that we would be able to make it without that set income. I had taken a break from work for medical reasons, and had a hard time going back. It was like a weight had been lifted off my back.
I am now selling Mary Kay Cosmentics. It has been a wonderful journey working for myself. The added income is really nice, and extemely helpful. I am hoping to build my business to the point of having that as my main source of income. I will be looking for something part time shortly to help suppliment our expenses.
We have had the wonderful opprotunity to spend time with our families. James & I went to Springfield to visit his side. All three of my sister-in-laws had babies within 3 months of eachother and had all of the baby blessings the same Sunday in their same ward congregation. It was wonderful to be apart of. I'm so glad that James got to be in the circle as each baby was blessed. What a blessing it is to have strong priesthood holders surrounding your families in the gospel!
James has traveled quite a bit for his work. Back when we bought our house, he spent 5 out of 8 weeks on the road...mainly in St. Louis. From that stint of travel, he earned 2 free round-trip tickets! A couple of weeks ago, he went to Detroit for training.
Last week, we had a fantastic time visiting my brother, his wife, and two daughters in Arizona. We had a great time! The desert is more flowerful and lush this year with all the rain they have gotten. It was nice to see the yellows, pinks, and purples on the cactus and brush. We were able to go to California for a couple of days to just play. We all did a day of service in order to get a free day at Disneyland. That was so much fun to have a day to play and have a good time together. James was able to meet my brother and his family for the first time. I was pleased to hear my sister-in-law say that she thought James & I are a good match and that she really likes him. That made me really happy! I have such wonderful neices - MyMy and LuLu. I wish they lived closer so I could spend more time with them. We had a great time making braclets, playing the Wii, holding hands as we went around Disneyland and went on the rides together. We were so glad that we made the trip and that Derrick's family was so gracious and good to us.
I am still worn out from our vacation and have been trying to take it easy, while James has jumped right back into work.
I am so grateful for family! For my loving husband, for my great parents, for my in-laws, sister-in-laws, and siblings, and all our neices and nephews. We love you all! And all our friends who let us into their lives, we are so grateful for you as well.

Looking to the future!
Well, it seemed like the right time to start looking to the future for James and I. On Saturday, we went apartment shopping for next November. I know, seems rather early for that, but we want to get a feel for the area and for our next home.
We have had problem after problem with our current apartment and are looking for a better place. We love the square footage of our apartment, but hate calling maintenance every couple of weeks to fix our dishwasher, sink, or toilets. For a while, every other week maintenance was in our apartment to fix something only to break again and again. We have also had a problem with an upstairs neighbor smoking weed or something nasty. The cops came out one night and hauled someone off. It was that bad.
James and I had a great Saturday looking at 5 different apartment complexes. We definitely found some that we WON'T rent a couple that were really nice and "in the running". More than anything, it was nice to spend the day together driving around and dreaming. We enjoyed going to Shawnee Mission Park for a drive and a stop by the lake to watch the geese. They came right up to us out of the water. Pretty cool! We then went downtown to the Power & Light district and went to a nice restaurant on the second floor of a building for dinner. They had great live jazz playing and we were sitting next to the window so we could watch this city's nightlife as well. The food was good and it was wonderful holding hands across the table with the man of my dreams.
We have been blessed greatly. When we didn't know how we could afford everything with my hours at work being cut due to the economy, my parents have stepped in and swapped cars with us so we have one less car payment. My credit card company lowered my interest rate over half by making a phone call. That cut that bill literally in half. The Lord is taking good care of us. Our faith is being increased when we look back at how the timing has been spot on. We could not have planned it better.
I love James. I love our families. I love looking to the future and dreaming of the possibilities.

Sweetheart Ferguson: Tagged! I'm Quirky and I'm It!
Sweetheart Ferguson: Tagged! I'm Quirky and I'm It!
Okay, Kristen, my sister is definitely quirky! Now she wants to hear from me about my quirks....
I don't like to get out of bed in the morning. I set three alarms on my cell phone before prying myself out of bed. I do however get up with my husband (after two alarms and a snooze alarm) and make his lunch while he showers. Then, I promptly go back to bed until I really have to get up for the day. Note: Do not call before 9am. I work nights as well as days, so my sleep schedule gets messed up from that.
I believe in water bottles. I do not recycle. I know....now everyone is going to get on my back about that. I collect water bottles. I am learning how to throw them away instead of keeping them under my bed after finishing drinking the last drop. That's an improvement! You can ask my parents about that! LOL! Did you know you can buy a case of water from Costco for $3.99! Awesome!
When setting the table, I am very particular about where on the table the placemat is set. My glass table has a little edge that is not noticeable to most people, I'm sure....but I like to make sure that all the placemats are lined up with that edge. My square plates have to be straight at a 90 degree angle to the placemats. But hey! The table looks great! So it's not that bad.....right!?!
One quirky trait that was passed on to me from Mom Voss is that I like to serve food out of serving bowls and platters. James did not understand this quirk and thought it was excessive. "What's so bad about serving it out of a metal bowl?" "It's a metal bowl! That is meant to cook in, not to present food." As a result, Mom and Dad Ferguson got us a beautiful white serving platter for Christmas and James got me Corningware bowls that are white and very good for putting out on the table to serve out of. They both got immediate use for Christmas dinner with the Voss parents and the missionaries. =)

Merry Christmas!
At this time of year, James and I are grateful for each other and our families. We are grateful for our Savior, Jesus Christ who's life we try to emulate. We are grateful to know that we have a living prophet of God on the earth to lead and guide us in our lives.
We had an enjoyable time Christmas morning exchanging a couple of gifts and spending time with the Voss parents. They were very generous to us and we appreciate them greatly. We had a great time entertaining the missionaries and the Voss parents for Christmas dinner. The food turned out great and the company was very enjoyable.
We hope that this Christmas season has brought you many fond memories for years to come. I know this year will be one that James and I will remember all our lives!

Love and Marriage...
Five months and a day after our first date, James and Terra sealed their love for time and all eternity on November 15th, 2008.
I can't believe we have already celebrated our one month anniversary of our marriage. Life has been so good and come so naturally for James and I. We love waking up to each other every morning and laying down together at night. Terra is still trying to get used to the snoring, but James sometimes waits to fall asleep until I have. So sweet! Other nights, I try to get him to change sides to no avail. He snores on every side. LOL! Oh well. We have done fairly well considering I've had a cold since the day before we got married. I can't seem to shake this multiple cold that I've encountered. It is amazing that he still cuddles up to me with a snotty nose and a halking cough. Ahhh......love and marriage!
